About Us

Our Research Team

How Canada Hyperbarics maintains Canada's largest independent hyperbaric oxygen therapy research database.

Our Mission

Canada Hyperbarics is an independent educational resource dedicated to making evidence-based hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) information accessible to all Canadians. We maintain a database of over 11,400 peer-reviewed studies, a verified directory of 31 facilities across 10 provinces, and comprehensive coverage guides for every province and territory.

Independence Statement

Canada Hyperbarics operates independently and does not accept payment from any hyperbaric facility for listing or promotion. All facilities in our directory are listed based on publicly verifiable information from CUHMA, provincial health authorities, and Health Canada's Medical Devices Active Licence Listing (MDALL). We do not provide medical advice, diagnose conditions, or recommend specific clinics.

Editorial Process

1

Research Sourcing

Studies are imported from PubMed using systematic search queries focused on hyperbaric oxygen therapy. We use the NCBI E-utilities API to retrieve metadata, abstracts, and citation information for each study.

2

AI-Assisted Summarization

Study summaries are generated using large language models (Gemini, Claude) and structured into five sections: Key Findings, Methodology, Clinical Significance, Limitations, and Canadian Relevance. Each summary is constrained to factual content derived from the study abstract.

3

Quality Scoring

Every published article is scored against a 100-point rubric covering word count, structure, internal links, citations, definition blocks, Canadian spelling, and medical accuracy. Articles must score 90+ before publication.

4

Fact Verification

Provincial coverage data, facility information, and regulatory facts are verified against primary sources including provincial health authority websites, CUHMA, Health Canada, and direct facility contact. Data is reviewed quarterly.

Data Governance

Province Data

Coverage status, facility counts, billing codes, and referral pathways verified against provincial health authority websites. Reviewed quarterly or when changes are reported.

Facility Data

All facilities cross-referenced with CUHMA directory and Health Canada MDALL. Phone numbers, websites, and operating status verified via direct contact or web check.

Research Integrity

Studies linked to PubMed source records. Summaries constrained to abstract-derived facts. No editorial claims beyond what the study data supports.
