What They Found
Sudden hearing loss/deafness was most common in individuals aged 51-70 years. Tinnitus was a frequent accompanying symptom, reported by 48.4% of women and 74.3% of men, while vertigo was less common. The most frequent causes were idiopathic (43.8% women, 40.0% men), infectious (18.8%), vascular (12.4-12.9%), and neurovascular conflict (12.4-12.9%), with acoustic trauma also noted in 18.5% of men.
