What Researchers Did
This study describes the case of a patient who received hyperbaric oxygen therapy for severe hand ischaemia after an accidental intra-arterial drug injection.
What They Found
A patient with severe hand ischaemia due to intra-arterial methadone and flunitrazepam injection showed no improvement with initial therapies and faced amputation. Despite a 12-day delay in starting hyperbaric oxygen therapy, the patient experienced a dramatic response. There was almost complete resolution of the ischaemic signs and symptoms in the affected hand.
