What Researchers Did
Researchers evaluated the performance of the Uni-Vent Eagle™ Model 754 ventilator under hyperbaric conditions and investigated potential oxygen leaks within its housing.
What They Found
They found that at 2.4 and 2.8 ATA, the ventilator delivered approximately 25% less volume than at 1.0 ATA. While breath stacking occurred at high respiratory rates, it was reduced at hyperbaric pressures, and no oxygen level increase was observed within the ventilator housing.
Canadian Relevance
This study has no direct Canadian connection.
Study Limitations
The study was conducted using a test lung and a specific ventilator model, which may not fully reflect performance in diverse clinical scenarios or with other ventilator types.
