What Researchers Did
Researchers exposed sperm samples from 10 oligospermic patients to hyperbaric oxygen treatment (2.5 ATA for 90 minutes) in three different conditions (no medium, EBSS, or Tyrode's solution) to evaluate its effect on sperm motility.
What They Found
All three groups showed a statistically significant increase in sperm motor activity (p<0.05). The greatest improvement in sperm vigilance was observed in Group III, where samples treated with Tyrode's solution exceeded 50% motility (p<0.01).
Canadian Relevance
This study has no direct Canadian connection.
Study Limitations
This was a preliminary in vitro study with a very small sample size of 10 patients, limiting the generalizability of the findings.
