What Researchers Did
Researchers used a modified Delphi consensus method to identify the most relevant clinical scenarios for inclusion in a simulation-based curriculum for hyperbaric medicine.
What They Found
Seventy-one participants from nine countries completed the first round, and 34 completed the second. Through this process, five scenarios were identified as relevant: seizure, fire, cardiac arrest, pneumothorax, and technical deficiency such as power loss while operating the chamber.
Canadian Relevance
This study has direct Canadian relevance as it involved Canadian researchers and distributed its questionnaire in both English and French, reflecting Canada's linguistic context.
Study Limitations
A limitation of this study is the significant attrition of participants between the first and second rounds of the Delphi process.
