What Researchers Did
Researchers described a patient who developed vision loss after spine surgery and reviewed existing literature on similar cases.
What They Found
This case report details a 53-year-old man who developed central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO) after spine surgery and experienced significant visual improvement after delayed hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT). The patient received HBOT at 2.0 ATA for 14 sessions, starting approximately 52 hours after his vision problems began. His vision improved from being able to only see hand motion to 20/25 in the affected eye.
