What Researchers Did
A single diver who had undergone a procedure for atrial fibrillation was monitored during a scuba dive and a hyperbaric chamber exposure to see how his heart and monitoring devices performed.
What They Found
The 46-year-old diver showed no recurrence of atrial fibrillation or other irregular heart rhythms during a 42-meter scuba dive or a hyperbaric chamber compression to 284 kPa (2.8 atmospheres absolute). His implantable heart monitor worked perfectly after both exposures, and an external ECG patch provided readable data during static periods.

Study Limitations
This study is a single case report, meaning its findings may not apply to all individuals who have undergone pulmonary vein isolation.
