What Researchers Did
Researchers investigated extra erythrocyte hemoglobin, total peroxidase activity, ceruloplasmin oxidase activity, and chemiluminescence intensity in plasma of animals exposed to hyperbaric oxygen or air, and in patients undergoing hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
What They Found
In animals, dose-dependent changes in extra erythrocyte hemoglobin, total peroxidase activity, and ceruloplasmin oxidase activity were observed under hyperbaric oxygen pressure (0.2, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7 MPa for 30-120 minutes), and in extra erythrocyte hemoglobin and total peroxidase activity under hyperbaric air (1.1 MPa for 4 hours). These biochemical parameters were also studied in patients receiving hyperbaric oxygen therapy, suggesting their potential as informative tests for functional state.
