What Researchers Did
Researchers reported on four cases of severe laryngeal chondroradionecrosis (CRN), a delayed complication of radiotherapy, and reviewed their management.
What They Found
All four cases presented with grade 4 CRN of the larynx; one patient improved with medical treatment and hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO). The other three cases progressed, necessitating salvage laryngectomy and pectoralis major myocutaneous flap reconstruction to cover fistulous skin defects.
