What Researchers Did
Researchers conducted a retrospective matched cohort study to evaluate the effects of hyperbaric oxygen combined with Danhong injection on functional independence and recurrence rates in 160 ischaemic stroke patients.
What They Found
The intervention group showed significantly higher 90-day functional independence (72.5%) compared to the control group (53.8%), with a relative risk ratio of 1.35. Combined therapy was independently associated with 90-day functional independence, demonstrating an adjusted odds ratio of 2.28.
Canadian Relevance
This study was not conducted in Canada and therefore has no direct Canadian relevance.
Study Limitations
A key limitation of this study is its retrospective, single-center design, which may limit the generalizability of the findings.
