What Researchers Did
Researchers conducted a living systematic review to compare the effectiveness of various interventions for managing long COVID (post-COVID condition).
What They Found
Out of 24 eligible trials involving 3695 patients, moderate certainty evidence indicated that an online cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) program probably reduced fatigue (mean difference -8.4) and improved concentration (mean difference -5.2) compared with usual care. Additionally, an online, supervised, combined physical and mental health rehabilitation program probably led to an improvement in overall health.
Canadian Relevance
This living systematic review includes Canadian authors, indicating direct involvement of Canadian researchers in synthesizing evidence for long COVID management.
Study Limitations
The certainty of evidence for some interventions was moderate, suggesting that future research may alter the findings.
